A person wanting to learn or study for the A+ exams on how to maintain, troubleshoot or manage various operating systems, then this is the book for you.  This book will be covering all the major windows operating systems from Windows 95 to Windows XP and they also will talk about Mac operating system as well as Linux.  In this a book a person will be able to learn the basics of backend administration and use various command prompt commands to help them in administrating those computer systems.  If you're working towards an A+ certificate then you would want this book as it will cover everything needed to help you prepare for the exam and pass it.  It also comes with a DVD that has FAQS, glossary and other features as well.  This book is complementary to the A+ Guide to Hardware as they written by the same author.
