Our meetings are generally held on the 1st Tuesday of each month.
Occasionally we move them to the 2nd Tuesday due to conflicting
holidays. All meetings are held from 1-4 PM at the Marlboro College Graduate Center in Brattleboro, VT. Directions are available. Our meetings are FREE to attend. Generally, a FREE lunch is served at each meeting, thanks to generous sponsorship of various individuals and organizations. If
you are a regular attendee, we ask that you get involved with the group
in some way over the course of the year. However, this is not required. AgendaEach meeting, we work to schedule two speakers. One generally speaks on a topic of interest to designers and managers, while the other speaks on a topic for developers. Previous talks have included: - Accessibility of websites to disabled and learning disabled
- Website usability
- Languages: AJAX, PHP, ColdFusion, JavaScript, CSS, (X)HTML, ActionScript, and on and on...
- Database and middleware technologies
- Open-source software (content management systems, wikis, blogs, and more)
- Managerial topics: project management, how to run your business, how to recruit and keep clients
Each talk lasts for an hour or so. In between talks, we have networking and socializing. Lunch is generally served just prior to the meeting or shortly after the start of the meeting. Finally, we often ask each other questions that have been bothering us over the previous month. Need a CSS hack for min-height? Database not behaving as expected? Ask it here. Usually someone will have an answer, or they'll know a website that will probably have it.
